A TASTE OF THE ISLAND: Il Buco

Il Buco has become the new locals’ local in the village of Santa Gertrudis. Ask anyone who has been greeted by the incredibly gregarious and warm staff, or devoured it’s focaccia, baked freshly with an ancient Sicilian grain and topped with seasonal delights such as pumpkin, salsiccia, spinach and grana padano.

Last night we were moved and reminded of how much human connection keeps us alive, not just physiologically but deep in our souls, no matter who we are and where we are from. It was the opening night of the exhibition, Homage to Humanity, hosted in Atzaro by acclaimed photographer, Jimmy Nelson, known for his incredibly alluring portraits of peoples from remote parts of the globe.
